Railway Pension Investments Ltd (Railpen) is authorised by the FSA as an investment management firm and Occupational Pension Scheme (OPS) member, whose sole client is the Railway Pension Trustee Company Ltd (RPTCL).

Railpen carries out its OPS activities through its competent and experienced staff who are overseen by an experienced board of directors and senior management team. Railpen's long term strategy includes responding to changes in the structure of the UK railways industry in respect of asset management. Investments are made in new asset types as they become appropriate in pursuit of RPTCL’s diversified strategy.

Railpen’s principal role is to act as a manager of managers, advising on the range of assets to be deployed, investment manager appointments and monitoring investment management performance.

Railpen is a wholly-owned subsidiary of rpmi. rpmi provides pensions administration and investment services to RPTCL.
